Quick Wasters: Rubbish Removal Company In London
I love hearing stories of true entrepreneurship, where someone has seized an opportunity and overcome a few challenges along the way and Ruwan Hettiarachichi who founded waste disposal, rubbish clearance and recycling company Quick Wasters, is no exception.
Ruwan came to the U.K. as a student from his native Sri-Lanka and studied marketing from the University of West London, which he wanted to put into good use.
Ruwan’s working journey was typical of many students — taking a job at McDonalds to make ends meet and then a couple of gardening jobs where he had that “lightbulb” moment that all entrepreneurs are waiting for.
Ruwan is no stranger to the outdoor life as back in Sri-Lanka he used to finish school and then work as a tea planter on a tea plantation ultimately working his way up to becoming assistant superintendent.
This job covered all aspects of the plantation business, sales, marketing, administration and including assisting in the management of over three-hundred people.
Ruwan then decided to leave for the U.K. to gain a formal marketing qualification in marketing.
When Ruwan was gardening it took him back to his outdoor working days back home and through a combination of having to hire a contractor to move his gardening waste and the fact that the local authorities in London were becoming more and more stretched in their duties, he saw a gap to offer a high quality, low cost waste and rubbish removal service.
But like many entrepreneurs and start-ups, finding the cash was difficult to cover the set-up costs and with his savings and some help, he bought his first van and he was in business.
Ruwan and his started with a very simple and effective direct marketing campaign and started to produce and deliver flyers with his wife to generate those all-important initial sales.
These times were also made more difficult due to an illness in the family and still, he pushed through and grew the business to a further four more vans operating across London.
The business model is a simple three-step one and people call him, his team collects and recycles.
Ruwan has also added a cleaning business to the offering as well. – Quick Cleaning Services.
When I asked Ruwan about what makes him different, I could hear the passion in his voice when he simply told me that he is dedicated to providing the absolute best customer service, with the best prices.
He also added that his people collect with a “smile” and that is a quality that so many companies could learn from — a smile always helps no matter what the business.
Give Ruwan and his team at Quick Wasters a shot — I know I would and he has now been going for four years and I am sure the future is bright for this entrepreneur.
Go ahead and put them to the test!
